hi all, haven't been posting much for the last few days as i have been pretty busy running around and enjoying myself with some guest and also with a friend's wedding. now, everything is back to normal and blogging shall resume, i hope you continue to enjoy reading. considering that i just came off 2 events that involves giving/blessing to others, i have decided to talk about being a cheerful giver.
the thread of generosity is woven-completely and inextricably-into the very fabric of Christ's teachings. as HE sent HIS disciples out to heal the sick and spread God's message of salvation, Jesus offered this guiding principle: "Freely you have received, freely you give." (Matt 10:8) the principle still applies. if we are to be disciples of Christ, we must give freely of our time, our possessions, and our love.
in 2 Corinthians 9, Paul reminds us that when we sow the seeds of generosity, we reap bountiful rewards in accordance with God's plan for our lives. thus, we are instructed to give cheerfully and without reservation: "But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver." (v.6&7)
so.....are you a cheerful giver? if you intend to obey God's commandments, you must be. when you give, God looks not only at the quality of your gift, but also at the condition of your heart. if you give generously, joyfully, without complaint, you obey God's Word. but, if you make your gifts grudgingly, or if the motivation for your gift is selfish, you invite God's displeasure.
one of life's greatest joy is the ability to share your gifts with others. the more you earn and save, the more you'll have to share. so today, make this pledge and keep it: be a cheerful, generous, courageous giver. the world needs your help, and you need the spiritual rewards that will be yours when you do. have a good day all !!!
