when we genuinely lift our hearts and our prayers to God, HE renews our strength. are you almost too weary to lift up your head? then bow it. offer our concerns and fears to your Father in heaven. HE is always at your side, offering HIS love and HIS strength.
sometimes, the demands of daily life can drain us of our strength and rob us of the joy that is rightfully ours in Christ. when we find ourselves tired, discouraged, or worse, there is a source from which we can draw the power needed to recharge our spiritual batteries. that source is God.
God intends that HIS children lead joyous lives filled with abundance and peace. but sometimes, abundance and peace seem very far away. it is then that we must turn to God for renewal, and when we do, HE will restore us.
are you troubled or anxious? take your anxieties to God in prayer. are you weak or worried? delve deeply into God's Holy Word and sense HIS presence in the quiet moments of the early morning. are you spiritually exhausted? call upon fellow believers to support you, and call upon Christ to renew your spirit and your life. your Saviour will never let you down. to the contrary, HE will always lift you up if you ask HIM to. so what, dear friends, are you waiting for?
remember, God is in the business of making all things new: Vance Havner correctly observed, "God is not running an antique shop! He is making all things new!" and guess what? that includes you and me. have a nice day !!!

the positive path
if you're like most men, you seek the admiration of your neighbors, your coworkers, and, most importantly, your family members. but the eagerness to please others should never overshadow your eagerness to please God. if you seek to fulfill the purposes that God has in store for you, then you must seek to please HIM first and always.
Matthew 6:33 reminds us that when we allow God to reign in our hearts, HE will provide for us. each new day presents countless opportunities to put God in first place.....or not. when we honor HIM by living according to HIS commandments, we earn ourselves the abundance and peace that HE promises. but, when we concern ourselves more with pleasing others than with pleasing our Creator, we bring needless sufferings upon ourselves and our families. don't take this lightly, it is as serious as it sounds, even though most of you knows me as more of a joker, but this is serious !
would you like a time-tested formula for successful living? here is a formula that is proven and true in my humble opinion: seek God's approval in every aspect of your life. does this sound too simple? perhaps it is simple, but it is the only way to reap the marvelous riches that God has in store for you.
remember this: righteous living leads to joy. Bill Hybels said this: "Christianity says we were created by a righteous God to flourish and be exhilarated in a righteous environment. God has "wired" us in such a way that the more righteous we are, the more we'll actually enjoy life." so guys and gals, Holy living doesn't take the joy out of life, it puts it in. have a nice day all of you !!!

spiritual maturity, day by day
God doesn't intend for you to be a stagnant believer. far from it! God's plan for you includes a lifetime of prayer, praise, and spiritual growth.
as christians, we can and should continue to grow in the love and the knowledge of our Saviour as long as we live. when we cease to grow, either emotionally or spiritually, we do ourselves and our loved ones a profound disservice. but, if we study God's Word, if we obey HIS commandments, and if we live in the protection of HIS will, we will not be "stagnant" believers, we will, instead, be growing christians.....and that's exactly what God wants for our lives.
if we are to be the kind of righteous christian men that God intends, we must continue to grow in our knowledge and love of the Lord. in those quiet moments when we open our hearts to God, the One who made us keeps remaking us. He gives us direction, perspective, wisdom and courage.
so, are you continually seeking to become a more mature believer? hopefully so, because that's exactly what you owe to yourself and to God.......but not necessarily in that order. remember this: spiritual maturity is a journey, not a destination. and the sooner you begin that journey, the farther you're likely to go. have a nice day !!!
quote of the day:

Influence Conference
went to a conference for young people last week and found it quite helpful for people of our generation that is heavily enticed by the world. for those of you who didn't go and doesn't know what is this all about, there are videos available, just email me and i will get hold of the copies for you. anyways, here are some photos of the conference, enjoy:
cheerful christianity
cheerfulness is a gift that we give to others and to ourselves. and, as believers who have been saved by a risen Christ, why shouldn't we be cheerful? the answer, of course, is that we have every reason to honor our Saviour with joy in our hearts, smiles on our faces, and words of celebration on our lips.
few things in life are more sad, or, for that matter, more absurd, than the sight of grumpy christians trudging unhappily through life. Christ promises us lives of abundance and joy if we accept HIS love and HIS grace. yet sometimes, even the most righteous among us are beset by fits of ill temper and frustration. during these moments, we may not feel like turning our thoughts and prayers to Christ, but that's precisely what we should do.
Mrs. Charles E.Cowman, the author of the classic devotional text, Streams in the Desert, wrote, "Two wings are necessary to lift our souls toward God; prayer and praise. Prayer asks. Praise accepts the answer." that's why we should find the time to lift our concerns to God in prayer, and to praise HIM for all that HE has done.
John Wesley correctly observed, "Sour godliness is the devil's religion." these words remind us that pessimism and doubts are some of the most important tools that satan uses to achieve his objectives. our challenge, of course, is to ensure that satan cannot use these tools on us.
so, are you a cheerful christian? you should be! and what is the best way to attain the joy that is rightfully yours? easy, by giving Christ what is rightfully HIS: your heart, your soul and your life. good day all of you !
quote of the day:
"When I think of God, my heart is so full of joy that the notes leap and dance as they leave my pen; and since God has given me a cheerful heart, I serve him with a cheerful spirit." by Franz Joseph Haydn

the right kind of wisdom
do place high value on the acquisition of wisdom? if so, you are not alone; most people would like to be wise, but not everyone is willing to do the work that is required to become wise. wisdom is not like a mushroom; it does not spring up overnight. it is, instead, like an oak tree that starts as a tiny acorn, grows into a sapling, and eventually reaches up the sky, tall and strong.
to become wise, you must seek God's guidance and live according to HIS Word. to become wise, you must seek instruction with consistency and purpose. to become wise, you must not only learn the lessons of the christian life, but you must also live by them. but oftentimes, that's easier said than done.
sometimes, amid the demands of daily life, you will lose perspective. life may seem out of balance, and the pressure of everyday living may seem overwhelming. what's needed is a fresh perspective, a restored sense of balance........and God's wisdom. if you call upon the Lord and seek to see the world through HIS eyes, HE will give you guidance, wisdom and perspective. when you make God's priorities your priorities, HE will lead you according to HIS plan and according to HIS commandments. when you study God's teachings, you are reminded that God's reality is the ultimate reality.
so, do you seek to live a life of righteousness and wisdom? if so, you must study the ultimate source of wisdom: the Word of God. you must seek out worthy mentors and listen carefully to their advise. you must associate, day in and day out, with godly men and women. then, as you accumulate wisdom, you must not keep it to yourself; you must, instead, share it with your friends and family members.
but be forewarned: if you sincerely seek to share your hard-earned wisdom with others, your actions must reflect the values that you hold dear. the best way to share our wisdom-perhaps the only way-is not by your words, but by your actions and example. good day all of you !!!

making the most of our talents
all of us have special talents, and you are no exception. but your talent is no guarantee of success; it must be cultivated and nurtured; otherwise, it will go unused...and God's gift to you will be squandered.
God knew precisely what HE was doing when HE gave you a unique set of talents and opportunities. and now, God wants you to use those talents for the glory of HIS Kingdom. but we live in a world that often encourages us to do otherwise.
the peculiar thing about this world that we live in now is that it is filled to the brim with countless opportunities to squander our time, our resources, and our talents. this was not exactly what God intended when HE first created mankind, but somehow, we really let the devil creep in quite A LOT and mess things around. we must be careful and watchful for distractions and temptations that might lead us astray.
did you know that your particular talent is a treasure on temporary loan from God? HE intends that your talent enrich the world and enrich your life. if you're sincerely interested in building a better life, build upon the talents that God (in HIS infinite wisdom) has given you. don't try to build a career (or a life) around the talents you wished HE had given you. never and i say never try to outsmart God, HE is just too smart for us !!!
God has blessed you with unique opportunities to serve HIM, and HE has given you every tool that you need to do so. today, accept this challenge: value that talent that God has given you, nourish it, make it grow, and share it with the world. after all, the best way to say "Thank You" for God's gift is to use them. good day all of you !!!

sharing the good news
are you a bashful christian, one who is afraid to speak up for your Saviour? do you allow others to share their testimonies while you stand on the sidelines, reluctant to share yours? after HIS resurrection, JESUS addressed HIS disciples: "But the eleven disciples proceeded to Galilee, to the mountain that Jesus had designated. When they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but some were doubtful. And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of age." " (Matt 28:16-20)
Christ's great commission applies to christians of every generation, including our own. as believers, we are called to share the good news of Jesus Christ with our families, with our neighbors, and with the world. yet many of us are slow to obey the last commandment of the risen Christ; we simply don't do our best to "make disciples of all nations." although our personal testimonies are vitally important, we sometimes hesitate to share our experiences. and that's unfortunate.
Billy Graham observed, "Our faith grows by expression. If we want to keep our faith, we must share it." if you are a follower of Christ, the time to express your belief in HIM is now. you know how Jesus has touched your heart; help HIM do the same for others. you must do likewise, and you must do so today. tomorrow may indeed be too late.
remember this: don't be embarrassed to discuss your faith-you need not have attended seminary to have worthwhile opinions about your faith. express those opinions, to those that are around you, you school mates, college friends, neighbors, cousins and family. have a great day all of you !!!

a tribute to mentors
i believe in our short journey of life, it is very important to have the right people by our side that encourages, motivates, advises, shares, prays and wishes us the best in whatever we do. i am not talking about family members, siblings, relatives or even friends. i am talking about mentors: someone who we can communicate with, someone we can learn from, someone who wishes to see us succeed, someone who speaks right through our lives (telling us nothing else but the truth, whether it sounds nice or not.) these type of people, believe me, are rare and hard to find. so, if you find one, cling on to him or her for as long as you can (however, the ultimate person to cling to would still be GOD)
well, in my life, there have been a couple of people that has mentored me or given me guidance in one way or another, and these are people that i really respect, and so i decided to blog about them today. here it goes:
Ps. Daud Tham:
he is one that you don't fool around with, very strict and serious especially when it comes to things of God. this is one man that has taught me so much during my younger days that i can say, i wouldn't be who i am today if not because of him (of course also by grace of God lah.) as i don't have a fantastic physical loving father, i have always treated him as my father in some way (at the same time i also treat God as my Father) through all the years with him, i have learned about mentoring, caring, sacrificing, staying close to God, leadership, missions, discipline and many more. he may be strict, especially with boys, but i can say he do it out of love, real genuine love. even though, i had my dark years, but i know he never left me and still prayed and cared for me and waited for me to come back again (just like my heavenly Father also) and now that i am back and strong, many credits go to this man and i wish him all the best in the years to come as he trains more people for the glory of God.
Ps.Kar Meng
this guy really took care of me during my days in australia. he wasn't that strict but his words were sharp and straightforward, he speaks right through you and gives you the plain truth. he was disciplined as well but in a different style, i call it liberal discipline, he lets you come to your sense and gives you a hint or two what to do and leaves the rest to you (and also God to speak to you) he was with me during my ups and downs, made all the efforts to meet up and catch up with me whether i was hot or cold. and even when i backslidded, he was still there for me, never forcing me to come to my senses, he was just simply gentle with me. sometimes he reminds me of JESUS, someone so gentle and loving, seldom gets angry or raises his voice. he just made known to me that his door was always open for me and i am grateful to this man even till now. the sad thing was i never said a proper good bye to him when i left the country, however, i am sure we will be good friends till we meet again either here on earth or in heaven, my best regards goes to him and his family.
Ps.Jeffrey Lam
this is one guy that i am not very sure how to describe. what i can say is that he is a bit of everything (and rest assured, everything is good one). but one thing i admire most about this guy is his humbleness and his fear of God. because of his fear of God, he tries his very best to make sure that things are in order and that his life is a living testimony to it, and i assure you, sometimes i see that he goes to great extent to make this fact known. this is something that i have yet to learn to date (you know lah, sometimes laziness or nevemindness kicks in, and we just let things be) his humbleness i can say is second to none, also something i admire very much. his style is not the hardcore style, in fact i would say sometimes he is a bit on the soft side (be reminded that Christ was also gentle and loving), but he's got a great wife to balance things up a bit (that's why i say God is the best matchmaker man). a man that practices liberalism but yet making sure that it is always about God and that God is always there. a guy that is man enough to say sorry when he is wrong. i believe i still have a long journey to walk with this guy and i pray & hope that God will be with us and guide us through.
Mr.Simon Locke
not exactly someone that i would call mentor (cause we don't get to meet that much also). but everytime after speaking with this man, i always seem to learn something new and get excited about what's he's doing. this is one man whose life i am trying to be like cause i really admire how he lives his life. he is a man that dares to challenge protocol for the good of it, one that knows very well what he is saying and makes sure that he gives you the plain truth. he can simply flip anywhere in the Bible and challenge your belief and make your world go upside down. if you think you know the Bible well, speak with him, and you would know where you are. i am not saying he is a theologian, but what he says is realism and the reality of christianity, this is what i call God-inspired version. on top of that he knows how to manage finance very very well in a Godly way, a truly wise and smart person that everyone can learn from.
i think that's it for now, i shall continue again the next time, have a nice day all of you !!!
p/s- all of you out there, you too should get mentor. but above all, make sure you have God on your side !!

real repentance
who among us has sinned? all of us. but, God calls upon us to turn away from sin by following HIS commandments. and the good news is this: when we do ask for God's forgiveness and turn our hearts to HIM, HE forgives us absolutely and completely.
we cannot sin against God without consequences. we cannot live outside HIS will without injury. we cannot distance ourselves from God without hardening our hearts. we cannot yield to the ever-tempting distractions of our world and, at the same time, enjoy God's peace.
sometimes, in a futile attempt to justify our behaviors, we make a distinction between "big" sins and "little" ones. to do so is a mistake of "big" proportions. sins of all shapes and sizes have the power to do us great harm. and in a world where sin is big business, that's certainly a sobering thought.
genuine repentance requires more than simply offering God apologies for our misdeeds. real repentance may start with feelings of sorrow and remorse, but it ends only when we turn away from the sin that has heretofore distanced us from our Creator. in truth, we offer our most meaningful apologies to God, not with our words, but with our actions. as long as we are still engaged in sin, we may be "repenting," but we have not fully "repented."
God's Word teaches us that when we invite Christ to rule over our lives, we become new beings: "You were taught to leave your old self-to stop living the evil way you lived before. That old self becomes worse, because people are fooled by the evil things they want to do. But you were taught to be made new in your hearts, to become a new person. That new person is made to be like God-made to be truly good and holy." (Eph 4:22-24)
so, is there any aspect of your life that is preventing your from becoming a new person in Christ? are you engaged in an activity that is distancing you from your God? if so, ask for HIS forgiveness, and-just as importantly-stop sinning. then, wrap yourself in the protection of God's Word. when you do, you will be secure. have a nice day all of you !!!

sometimes, in a futile attempt to justify our behaviors, we make a distinction between "big" sins and "little" ones. to do so is a mistake of "big" proportions. sins of all shapes and sizes have the power to do us great harm. and in a world where sin is big business, that's certainly a sobering thought.
genuine repentance requires more than simply offering God apologies for our misdeeds. real repentance may start with feelings of sorrow and remorse, but it ends only when we turn away from the sin that has heretofore distanced us from our Creator. in truth, we offer our most meaningful apologies to God, not with our words, but with our actions. as long as we are still engaged in sin, we may be "repenting," but we have not fully "repented."
That new person is made to be like God-made to be truly good and holy." (Eph 4:22-24)
so, is there any aspect of your life that is preventing your from becoming a new person in Christ? are you engaged in an activity that is distancing you from your God? if so, ask for HIS forgiveness, and-just as importantly-stop sinning. then, wrap yourself in the protection of God's Word. when you do, you will be secure. have a nice day all of you !!!

transformers: more than meets the eye
has anyone of you watched the Transformers movie recently? i watched it not long ago with some youths and let me tell you, it is one great not to be missed movie man, it's really really cool so dun miss it !!! here's how come transformers fans think of themselves after watching the movie:
the power of prayer
is prayer an integral part of your daily life or is it a hit-or-miss habit? do you "pray without ceasing," or is your prayer life an afterthought? do you regularly pray in the quiet moments of the early morning, or do you bow our head only when others are watching?
as christians, we are instructed to pray often. but it is important to note that genuine prayer requires much more than bending our knees and closing our eyes. heartfelt prayer is an attitude of the heart.
if your prayers have become more a matter of habit than a matter of passion, you're robbing yourself of a deeper relationship with God. and how can you rectify this situation? by praying more frequently and more fervently. when you do, God will shower you with HIS blessings, HIS grace, and HIS love. and we in return, will have to spread this blessings to the rest of the world so that God can be glorified.
the quality of your spiritual life will be in direct proportion to the quality of your prayer life: the more you pray, the closer you will feel to God. so today, instead of turning things over in your mind, turn them over to God in prayer. instead of worrying about your next decision, ask God to lead the way. don't limit your prayers to the dinner table or the bedside table. pray constantly about things great and small. God is always listening; it's up to you to do the rest.
remember this: pray early and pray often-one way to make sure that your heart is in tune with God is to pray often. the more you talk to God, the more HE will talk to you. good day all !!!

accepting HIS peace
as a busy person, you plate is probably full: work to do, bills to pay, family to lead, college assignments...etc etc. sometimes, it seems that you can scarcely find a moment's peace. but the beautiful words of John 14:27 are a reminder that God's peace is always available to all of us.
Jesus said, "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you....." Christ offers us peace, not as the world gives, but as HE alone gives. we, as believers, can choose to accept HIS peace or ignore it.
when we accept the peace of Jesus Christ into our hearts, our lives are transformed. and then, because we possess the gift of peace, we can share that gift with fellow christians, family members, friends and associates. if, on the other hand, we choose to ignore the gift of peace-for whatever reason-we simply cannot share what we do not possess.
today, as a gift to yourself, to your family, and to your friends, claim the inner peace that is your spiritual birthright: the peace of Jesus Christ. it is offered freely; it has been paid for in full; it is yours for the asking. so ask, receive it and then share it.
remember this: sometimes peace is a scarce commodity in a demanding 21st century world. how can we find the peace that we so desperately desire? easy, by turning our days and our lives to God. may we give our lives, our hopes, and our prayers to the Father, and by doing so, accept HIS will and HIS peace. good day all of you !!!

mistakes: the price of being human
every man makes mistakes, and so will you. in fact, Winston Churchill once observed, "Success is going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm." what was good for Churchill is also good for you. you should expect to make mistakes-plenty of mistakes-but you should now allow those missteps to rob you of the enthusiasm you need to fulfill God's plan for you life.
we are imperfect people living in a imperfect world; mistakes are simply part of the price we pay for being here. but, even though mistakes are an inevitable part of life's journey, repeated mistakes should not be. when we commit the inevitable blunders of life, we must correct them, learn from them, and pray for the wisdom not to repeat them. when we do, our mistakes become lessons, and our lives become adventures in growth, not stagnation.
when our shortcomings are made public, we may feel embarrassed or worse. we may presume (quite incorrectly) that "everybody" is concerned with the gravity of our problem. and as a consequence, we may feel the need to hide from our problems rather than confront them. to do so is wrong. even when our pride is bruised, we must face up to our mistakes and seek to rise above them.
have you made a king-sized blunder or two? of course you have. but here's the big question: have you used your mistakes as stumbling blocks or stepping stones? the answer to this question will determine how well you perform in the workplace and in every other aspect of your life. so don't let the fear of past failures hold you back. and remember this: even if you've make a colossal mistake, God isn't finished with you yet-in fact, HE'S probably just getting started. have a nice day all of you !!!!

laughing with life
laughter is the medicine for the soul, but sometimes, amid the stress of the day, we forget to take our medicine. instead of viewing our world with a mixture of optimism and humor, we allow worries and distractions to rob us of the joy that God intends for our lives.
so the next time you find yourself dwelling upon the negatives of life, refocus your attention to things positive. the next time you find yourself falling prey to the blight of pessimism, stop yourself and turn your thoughts around. and, if you see your glass as "half-empty", rest assured that your spiritual vision is impaired. with God, your glass is never half empty. with God as your protector and Christ as your Saviour, your glass is filled to the brim and overflowing.....forever....cool right !!!
today, as you go about your daily activities, approach life with a smile on your lips and hope in your heart. and laugh every chance you get. after all, God created laughter for a reason....and Father indeed knows best......so laugh lah !!!
remember this: laughter is good medicine, Milton Berle said, "Laughter is an instant vacation." and when you laugh with your family, it's an instant family vacation. have a nice day happy day all of you !!!

the bread of life
HE was the Son of God, but He wore crowns of thorns. HE was the Saviour of mankind, yet HE was put to death on rough-hewn cross. He offered HIS healing touch to an unsaved world, and yet the same hands that had healed the sick and raised the dead were pierced with nails.
Jesus Christ, the Son of God, was born into humble circumstances. He walked this earth, not as a ruler of men, but as the Saviour of mankind. HIS crucifixion, a torturous punishment that was intended to end HIS life and HIS reign, instead became the pivotal event in the history of all humanity. Christ sacrificed HIS life on the cross so that we might have eternal life. this gift, freely given by God's only Begotten Son, is the priceless possession of everyone who accepts HIM as Lord and Saviour.
why did Christ endure the humiliation and torture of the cross? He did it for you. HIS love is as near as your next breath, as personal as your next thought, more essential than your next heartbeat. and what must you do in response to the Saviour's gift? simple, just accept HIS love, praise HIS name, and share HIS message of salvation. and, you must also conduct yourself in a manner that demonstrates to all the world that your acquaintance with the Master is not a passing fancy but that it is, instead, the cornerstone and the touchstone of your life.
remember this: let Jesus make a real difference in your life, if you're trying to mold you relationship with Jesus into something that fits comfortably into your own schedule and your own personal theology, them i'm sorry to tell you that you may be headed for trouble. a far better strategy is this: conform yourself to Jesus, not vice versa. have a nice day all !!!

the cheerful giver
hi all, haven't been posting much for the last few days as i have been pretty busy running around and enjoying myself with some guest and also with a friend's wedding. now, everything is back to normal and blogging shall resume, i hope you continue to enjoy reading. considering that i just came off 2 events that involves giving/blessing to others, i have decided to talk about being a cheerful giver.
the thread of generosity is woven-completely and inextricably-into the very fabric of Christ's teachings. as HE sent HIS disciples out to heal the sick and spread God's message of salvation, Jesus offered this guiding principle: "Freely you have received, freely you give." (Matt 10:8) the principle still applies. if we are to be disciples of Christ, we must give freely of our time, our possessions, and our love.
in 2 Corinthians 9, Paul reminds us that when we sow the seeds of generosity, we reap bountiful rewards in accordance with God's plan for our lives. thus, we are instructed to give cheerfully and without reservation: "But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver." (v.6&7)
so.....are you a cheerful giver? if you intend to obey God's commandments, you must be. when you give, God looks not only at the quality of your gift, but also at the condition of your heart. if you give generously, joyfully, without complaint, you obey God's Word. but, if you make your gifts grudgingly, or if the motivation for your gift is selfish, you invite God's displeasure.
one of life's greatest joy is the ability to share your gifts with others. the more you earn and save, the more you'll have to share. so today, make this pledge and keep it: be a cheerful, generous, courageous giver. the world needs your help, and you need the spiritual rewards that will be yours when you do. have a good day all !!!
