trusting your conscience

it has been said that character is what we are when nobody is watching. how true. when we do things that we know aren't right, we try to hide them from our families and friends. but even then, God is watching.

few things in life torment us more than a guilty conscience. and, few things in life provide more contentment than the knowledge that we are obeying God's commandments. a clear conscience is one of the rewards we earn when we obey God's will and accept HIS gift of salvation, our earthly rewards are never-ceasing, and our heavenly rewards are everlasting.

there's this famous evangelist Billy Graham that once said, "Most of us follow our conscience as we follow a wheelbarrow. We push it in front of us in the direction we want to go." if that describes you, then here's a word of advise: both you and your wheelbarrow are headed for trouble.

do you place a high value on the need to keep your conscience clear? if so, keep up the good work. but if you're tempted to do something that you'd rather the world not know about, remember this: you can sometimes keep secrets from other people, but you can never keep secrets from God. God knows what you think and what you do. and if you want to please HIM, you must start with good intentions, a pure heart, and a clear conscience.

if you sincerely wish to honor your Father in Heaven, follow HIS commandments. when you do, your character will take care of itself...and so will your conscience. then, as you journey through life, you won't need to look over your shoulders to see who-besides God-is watching. Good day all of you !!

quote of the day:

"Your conscience is your alarm system. It's your protection." by Charles Stanley
